Not a mall, we own it all! Mason Country Collectibles, located at 424 Ft. McKavitt, one block north of the square on Hwy. 87, was established in 1978, by original owners Oliver and Doris Grote. It is now owned by their youngest son, Warren and his wife, Susan. It is the home of the 587.15 carat Grand Azure Topaz, which is the largest faceted Mason County topaz known to exist. Blue topaz, faceted in the lone star cut, was declared the state gem of Texas in 1978, and is found only in Mason County in the whole state. Mason Country Collectibles has been selling Mason County topaz for over 30 years and has a wide selection of mounted Mason topaz in yellow or white gold and in sterling silver settings. In addition, there are many loose raw and faceted stones available. Country Collectibles is housed in a 10,000 square foot building and carries a wide selection of oldies and goodies. These include antiques, deer antlers, books, kitchen items, western relics, boots, spurs, barbed wire products, iron yard and wall art, and much more! Some say it should actually be called a museum, so there is a sign displayed out front announcing FREE ADMISSION. Owners Warren and Susan Grote invite you to come visit. Store hours are 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday, and 1:30 to 5:00 on Sunday. Call 325 347-5249 or Warren’s cell at 325-347-4963 for information or check us out and other Mason sites on thedaytripper.com/daytrip/mason-tx or at masoncountrycollectibles.com.
